To Figure out A Dream

So I had a pretty awesome dream last night. It was Indiana Jones-esque.

It started off that my Grandfather-not sure which one just Grandfather in general-was taking me to something/someplace he wanted to show me. We squeeze into this cave-like place to find a ghost-like version of a little me. Playing with this science set. Now at this point in time I’m not sure if I am just watching my Grandpa or if I am the little boy or if I’m there. But he then yells, “let’s go!” So we go.

As we run through this cave it reminds me of a Zelda level you’ve already completed. We know when to duck. We know when to throw stones to knock out the bats and we know exactly where we are going. Mainly because I was following my Grandpa.

The longer we run the more familiar I am with the place. I start to remember “bosses” that I helped defeat in the last time we did this. But finally we reach the end and walk through this little cave-door to find a cavern. At the end of the cavern was a crack on the left, staircase on the right and a closed toilet seat in the middle.

At this time, my Grandpa runs up to the toilet seat and tells me to get back. He lifts up the seat and water starts shooting out like a fire hydrant. Some reason I remember leaving this cave through the hole in the wall the last time we did this. He puts his hand in the wall and feels around for something. Something he left there a long time ago for me. He pulls out a brass drill bit.

“I’m giving this to you.”, he said “Hurry, you know which way to go.” Pointing to the staircase, then the crack in the wall. With that I hear rushing water coming from the other side of the cave.

“I don’t want to leave you!”, I screamed.

“Go, my time is done.” And with that I went through the crack in the wall to find myself in a bank. I hear the rushing water hit the wall and I get an email from my Grandfather’s character with the subject that says: “Expely”. And I knew he was gone.

With my new drill bit from my dead Grandfather I remembered him talking about a security box at this bank. So I stood in line and chatted small talk with the security guard. For some reason he wouldn’t let me pass, but it was my turn in line so I told him to move.

With the proper ID you can get anything. I got the security box.

In it I found some stuff that my Grandmother liked: jewelry, candies and I think a shirt. Then there was this locked wooden box. I used the drill bit to drill out the lock and it opened. In it was a shiny military metal.

It was solid silver with the words “United States Of America Military” on the rim and the US symbol of the eagle with the shield and arrows. Under that was the year 1918. With closer inspection I found that the after the “19″ there was a red ruby and after the “18″ was a diamond. There was also two rows of diamonds on either side of the eagle, in my mind they made the number 11.

After that some people had discussions with me about its meaning and how my Grandfather got it. Those discussions escape me. We studied this metal on and off as I woke up and fell back asleep while Emily got ready for work.
