Things I would pay for…

So I’ve tried to make this blog as a-political as possible, but that gets boring. :)

Reading the title, the first response would probably be, “You missed hooker!” But really, I did not. On the way to work today I thought of 4 things I wish someone would take the initiative to set-up and I would be willing to donate money towards. There are just some things that need money thrown at it so it can be fixed.

Gas Tax

Well with all the talk about the $0.18 gas tax McCain and Hillary want to take off at peak gas usage. **If you see nothing wrong with this learn about economics, and learn about the agreement gas companies have that they won’t let gas prices sway more than a couple of cents a day** I want to propose a different direction.

I mentioned this to a couple of people but I would be willing to pay an extra $0.15 a gallon if the company who does it guarantees that 100% of it will go to alternative fuel research. This would have to be an open process and I think everyone who purchases the gas should be able to suggest what technologies should be addressed.

New Orleans

With the new tornado season starting off on a gruesome trend, it reminds me of the tragedy in New Orleans and  how terribly it got handled… and is still handled 3 (?) years later. Although I have some opinions, who ever dropped the ball is irrelevant to the fact that all of those people got displaced and things still aren’t fixed to their full potential. I would give a one time donation of $75 if I can be guaranteed that the money would either go into rebuilding the homes (workers and supplies only, none of this manager bullshit) or directly to the displaced citizens.

World Trade Center

Something about the fact that there is still a hole where the WTC used to be that just pisses me off. I have to say, Keith Olbermann’s comments on the 5th year after the towers fell hit the nail right on the head.  Now pair that with the fact that it was over a year ago and it really makes my blood boil. I would give a one time donation of $50 if I can be guaranteed that the entire WTC (all the damn buildings) would be publicly owned for the next 50 years and they would rebuild the towers.

The hole in the ground really pisses me off.

Stem Cell Research

There is a problem with a certain number of people in this country, one that I don’t want to get into. But history has shown that the countries that ignore technological breakthroughs  typically are short lived thereafter. Besides nano-technology and genetic engineering of plants/animals, I think stem cell research is another scientific breakthrough we, as a country, cannot survive without. I don’t care how they created- embryonic or otherwise-I would pay a one time donation of $50 for either my state, or federally, for all of the current stem cell lines be released and the ability for new stem cell lines to be created.

Notice how Iraq isn’t in there… I think we all payed (and will continue to pay) enough for that.

I would like to congratulate myself for holding back in this post.
