As a casual observer, and subscriber to “reality”, I have a hard time understanding things today. The United States crazies are coming out in droves and there seems to be more of them than I ever imagined. The first thing that came to my mind was the violence on the Senate floor months before the Civil War broke out. As it was, the previous day Senator Sumner criticized the southern states, especially North Carolina, for allowing slavery to occur for so long. The next day, Senator Brooks (the N.C. Senator), repeatedly bashed Sumner over the head with his cane while shouting “You have libeled my state and slandered my relation, who is aged and absent. And I feel it to be my duty to punish you.”

Historians agree that this eruption on the Senate floor, really described the tensions that were occurring in the United States before the “shot heard around the world“.

I’m not aware if it is because of the past 8 years, the economic downward spiral, the eventual dismounting of America as the world powerhouse or just that the Internet allows me to see multiple situations occurring at once, but this country is going to hell in a hand-basket.

Let’s start with the anti-gay marriage “protesters”. These people question the very existence of love between two people of the same sex, and wonder why they are called bigots and haters. They don’t even hide the fact that they are taking “rights” from one group of Americans for “the common good”. Democracy at it’s worse, where 51% rule the rest. Proposition 8 is unwarily named Eliminates Right of Same-Sex Couples to Marry. Arizona and Florida have similar propositions but “[...] religious conservatives have cast the campaign in California as the decisive last stand, warning in stunningly apocalyptic terms of dire consequences to the entire nation if Proposition 8 does not pass.”

If it wasn’t bad enough that people actually ignore the bible, especially the part where Jesus asks “Who are you to judge your neighbor?” (James 4:12) they then become even less Christ-like and actually cause violence on fellow Americans. I just don’t get it.

Onto the next thing, two party systems and non-wavering hate for opposition. Some people only vote pary lines, something I’ve never subscribed to. If a politician can convince me he/she is fit to be president and will show intelligence and decisiveness (and other leadership abilities) they can win my vote. But when Congressmen ignore violence on opposing party trackers out of sheer ignorance or fear, there is a problem.

We are ALL Americans. Be it gay, straight, bigots, religious, atheists, democrats, republicans or what ever. We are all entitled to opinions and I will defend you to choose to have those opinions and debate them. BUT these opinions should NEVER hurt, physically, a fellow American.

These are the people who have Jesus fish on the back of their cars but won’t hesitate to drop the N-word. Or Republicans who have repeatedly tried to get votes not to be counted because they don’t match the drivers license exactly. As in “Jon P. Smith” is registered as “John Perry Smith”.

Is power really that worth it? To CHEAT Americans out of their god-given right to vote. It is literally coming down to the point that I can’t stand it anymore.

With this upcoming election, we have a collection of complete lies and slanders that would make the most hardened racist blush. Muslim, terrorist, socialist, Marxist…

First, what if we had a Muslim president? DO you really think that they would get into office and immediately open up our borders to terrorists? There have been plenty of domestic terrorists on the side of PETA, abortion clinic bombers and other attacks that were done by Christians. I’m more afraid of someone who decides their life by an idol more than someone who may be of a different faith than myself. The words socialist and Marxist aren’t dirty words, and neither is fascist! These are legitimate government policies and theories, none of which I want to live in, but they are legitimate.

The problem is all I’ve seen is every attack the McCain camp has come out with they have equally had a share in something more damning or exactly the same policies. Palin got Alaska oil companies to “spread the wealth” around for the betterment of her citizens. Because of this, there is no sales tax or income tax and people get a $3,400 check in the mail.

I hate everyone right now.
